Aksi Jaga Bumi Program

Problem

Indonesia generates over 67.8 million tons of waste annually, but only 7.5% is recycled, while 69% ends up in landfills (Bappenas, 2022).
Landfills such as Bantar Gebang are overwhelmed, emitting significant amounts of methane and other harmful gases.
Community participation in waste segregation and recycling is minimal, hindered by a lack of infrastructure and awareness.

Aksi Jaga Bumi (AJB) aims to initiate and foster a waste-responsible society through a communal on-site waste management system. AJB will transform the conventional waste management system to a more comprehensive system that will reduce waste residue transported to landfill. Aksi Jaga Bumi also includes a series of competitions to increase participant motivation to take part in this program.
