Indonesia stands at a decisive inflection point in the evolution of its food system. While the economy continues to expand, millions of smallholder farmers, artisanal fishers, livestock keepers, and community-based food producers remain locked in cycles of structural vulnerability. They contend with diminishing land availability, price volatility, restricted access to finance, and the intensifying impacts of climate change. These systemic barriers leave many households trapped at subsistence levels, unable to transition toward sustainable prosperity.
In response, Kitabisa.ORG launches this Call for Proposals to mobilize NGOs to design and implement transformative solutions. The ambition extends beyond short-term productivity gains. The goal is to catalyze a more equitable, inclusive, and resilient food ecosystem. The program prioritizes systemic change, with five key outcome areas:
- Expanding fair access to finance for food-producing communities.
- Advancing local food production, distribution, and consumption practices that are environmentally and socially sustainable.
- Establishing innovative and enduring financing mechanisms to strengthen the food sector.
- Empowering communities to achieve food self-sufficiency.
- Enabling smallholder farmers and fishers to climb the economic ladder through new models of inclusive financing.
Financial support provided through this program is intentionally structured not as a traditional grant, but as a results-based funding mechanism.
Partner organizations are required to demonstrate clear, measurable, and independently verifiable outcomes—ranging from higher household incomes and strengthened community capabilities to the development of more inclusive and efficient food value chains. By linking funding to tangible results, the program ensures that supported initiatives deliver immediate impact while also laying the foundation for scalable, replicable models that can inform national policy agendas.
Eligibility for this call extends to social organizations with a proven operational track record of at least two years, formal legal independence, and a strong institutional commitment to driving systemic and lasting transformation within Indonesia’s food system.
A total grant prize of USD 20,000 will be awarded to two selected NGOs.
